Portrait of Oona Curley

About Oona

Oona Curley is an award-winning lighting and scenic designer for new and devised theater, based in New York City. Their work has been seen everywhere from London's West End to Las Vegas; from underground theaters to cutting-edge conference spaces; from digital platforms to jumbotrons. Oona approaches every project with curiosity and executes with confidence — pairing a downtown maker's invention with an operator's command of scale.

Oona received their MFA in Lighting and Set Design from NYU/Tisch, and holds a BA in Architectural Studies and Engineering from Brown University. Oona is an associate artist with the Bearded Ladies Cabaret, a company member of Lightning Rod Special, and a proud member of USA 829.

Alongside their design practice, Oona is Director of Operations at Eos Lightmedia, a design-build firm specializing in lighting and media systems for museums, themed attractions, and live events. There they lead operational strategy — aligning multidisciplinary teams, holding budgets, and delivering complex projects from concept through installation. That operational rigor is precisely what lets the design work be trusted at scale.

In their time off, Oona can be found on a bicycle, at a museum, or enjoying family time in their hometown of New York City.
